A reaction between two chemical substances
(usually salts in solution) that results in
the exchange of a constituent from each
compound to create two different compounds.
For example, if silver nitrate solution is
added to a solution of sodium chloride, there
is an exchange of ions yielding sodium
nitrate and silver chloride.
